2026 CON
A big thank you to the 60 attendees who made our 10th anniversary event a fantastic success!
The 8th TGIF/F was held in San Pedro, CA at the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Harbor Hotel. Femslash fans came from far and wide to build community and talk media for 3.5 jam-packed days of awesomeness! If you’re considering joining us in future years, this will give you a great idea of what kind of programming to expect and a sample schedule. Each December, our registered attendees nominate and vote on the panels that appear on the schedule.

Meta Panel Descriptions
-
Bringing back last year's panel. What are our current sources (fandom or otherwise) of optimism and resilience?
-
What was your first queer ship? Why are some ships such gateways to fandom for so many queer fans? Let's have fun looking back on our roots.
-
Let's visit (and revisit) our favorite confirmed neurodivergent-coded characters!
-
A conversation on what's considered queerbaiting and what's just bad writing. Is it just a way to get shows greenlit or an attempt to cash in on queer eyeballs and dollars? What are we trying to accomplish with discourse surrounding it?
-
Fantasy worlds are full of misogyny and tropes even though there have been writers who want to make women more powerful. Is it a limit of the imagination or fear of change?
-
Let's talk about finales - who did it right, who botched it, and what we want out of a show's ending. How has the current cancel culture, where shows are often cancelled after a single season, impacted how show runners frame their storylines and what do we want from narratives because of this?
-
Similar to the Town Halls we had last spring, this would be an in-person opportunity to talk about what we as a group see as the future of our con, discuss how to keep it vibrant and growing over the next decade, and entertain ideas for change/improvement.
-
Talk about the kinds of characters we're drawn to in media that are not the kind of people we would be drawn to in real life and vice versa. What parts of ourselves are we living out by experiencing these different attractions?
-
Fandoms come and go, but racism within them remains no matter how many ships sail. How can white queer folks be better allies and show their support of BIPOC and other marginalized groups? When and where is it non-BIPOC’s responsibility to speak up? This panel explores the ways in which queer fandom spaces affect how intersectionality works within them and how we can amplify each other’s voices in order for everyone to be seen and heard.
-
So many beautiful women on screen who don't represent the typical body type: Lily Gladstone, Wunmi Mosaku, others. Let's give them some love!
-
Did writers just not know what to do with them? Were they overpowered? The antagonist of a more popular character? Villainized by fandom?
Bring your examples. Who deserved better?
